Artistic Practice
Life drawing and drawing are at the core of SSKISS’s artistic practice. During our collective drawing sessions, image, movement and music often meet.
Life drawing. From the French word “croquis” is drawing from a live model. It often involves responding quickly to the body’s movement, presence and essential forms. At SSKISS, drawing is both an artistic practice and a social situation; a way of looking, listening, exploring and being present together.
We want to continue developing our drawing sessions while also initiating, curating, producing and participating in other artistic projects.
These may include exhibitions, performances, music, dance, workshops, public programmes, installations, publications and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Sometimes the audience becomes part of the work; sometimes they encounter a finished production. The formats are open and can change according to the ideas and artists involved.
About SSKISS
SSKISS began in Stockholm in 2020, when six artists – Micael de Leeuw, Kegen Lorentzon, Lynn Stenvall, Ambra Byrne, Nora Dellgren and Jenna Mäenpää. Were looking for a relaxed place to meet and create together. We decided to build that place themselves.
Today, SSKISS is an artist-run cooperative and an open platform for artistic and social exchange. We organise life drawing sessions, performances, cultural events and collaborations with artists, musicians, models, institutions and other creative practitioners.
We believe that art and social interaction belong together. Our aim is to create spaces where people can try something new, meet others and participate without pressure to perform.
The person drawing for the first time should feel as welcome as someone who works with art every day. SSKISS is a place for curiosity, experimentation and shared experiences.
Projects
SSKISS develops and participates in projects that connect drawing, performance, music, movement and social exchange.
Our projects take many forms, including life drawing sessions, exhibitions, performances, workshops, public programmes, installations, publications and collaborations with artists, collectives, institutions and other cultural actors.
Some projects are intimate and process-based. Others are public events or larger productions. Each project has its own character, visual language and atmosphere, shaped by the people, place and ideas involved.
Past Projects
Our archive documents the projects, people and encounters that have shaped SSKISS over the years.
